Online Theory Program (19)

After I've completed the course, can I still access the theory online modules?

You're welcome to have access to the online theory modules after the practical. Just email to let me know. All the relevant information is available in the downloadable Reference Manual and on the video training membership site (VTS).

Are there any tests or exams with this Dry Needling Course?

Yes. There are MCQ's after each online theory module. Practitioners need to pass these modules to move onto the next module. There's also an informal practical test on Saturday afternoon to ensure all practitioners are safe to continue onto the more Advanced techniques on Sunday. We try to make the environment as relaxed as possible. After enrollment we provide a document that gives you a very good idea of the sort of questions you may be asked (Preparing for your Practical course). Every question asked will have been taught on the practical course so make sure you take good notes throughout the day. This test is to make sure practitioners are SAFE to go onto the more Advanced techniques on Sunday, as everyone is practicing on everyone else and safety is paramount. The test is not just based on answering 1 or 2 questions at the end of the day! Presenters are assessing & watching each practitioner throughout the day, looking for safe needle handling.

What happens if I don't pass the practical test?

A few practitioners do not pass the practical course sometimes. The main reason is due to not being able to show safety in applying the techniques. Like any other skill in life, some practitioners just need more time to master a skill so we give every practitioner the opportunity to try again. If a practitioner does not reach the standard required to continue onto the Advanced course on Sunday they have the opportunity to complete the course again (Supplementary). This involves re-enrolling and completing the theory program plus the Friday / Saturday practical again. The cost of this Supp is $350.00 Most practitioners who join the Supp, pass the test on Saturday and go on to complete the Advanced techniques on Sunday. They then gain their Certificate of Completion and can use DN in their clinic the next day. When enrolling, please ensure you enrol early enough to leave time to complete the theory modules & then go through the sample practical questions before joining the practical. We generally find that practitioners who haven't rushed through the theory modules usually do well and are able to continue onto the Sunday practical.

Are there any tests/ written exams in the online theory?

Yes. There MCQ's after each theory module. Practitioners need to attain between 80 to 100% to move onto the next module. You can attempt the MCQ's as many times as you like.

Please ensure you have installed the most recent version of Adobe Reader or try downloading the files from another computer.

I can’t launch the online theory module / the image/ sound is frozen/ there are no pictures/ I can't move forward

Here are the most likely causes for your online theory issues:

Internet Speed: Your internet speed is slow. To be able to view all the module slides, listen to the voiceovers & watch the video content you need a moderate to fast internet speed. Your download speed should be at least 3-5 Megabits per second. You can check your internet speed by here. If your internet speed is less than our recommendation you should try and connect to a faster network eg home/work/friend/library/university/college. Another reason could be that you're connecting to the internet using a wireless connection. A wireless connection is significantly slower than a direct connection using a LAN cable to your modem.

Recommended Browser: You may not be using our recommended browser. Please use Chrome to access & complete your online theory.

Recommended Devices: Our Online theory program is NOT compatible with iPad or Windows Tablets. Please ensure that you use a laptop or desktop computer and that you have performed a software update.
Clearing Your Cache: Your browser may still use old files which can cause display or access problems. Clearing your browser cache may help our applications run better on your computer. To clear your cache please follow these instructions: Refresh your cache on a Windows Device or Mac.
Multiple Devices: You can use more than one device to complete your online theory eg. Start on your desktop while at work then continue to work on the theory modules using your laptop at home. However, you should make sure that you exit the program window every time you complete a Module or intend to continue working on another device using the "Exit" button.
Logging Out/In: In some cases the information that goes from your computer back to our servers may get interrupted. This might cause the system to crash and require a restart. Logging out, then back in again of your program may resolve this issue. You may also wish to shut down your computer and restart as well.
Please ensure you've tried all these solutions and feel free to get back to us with any more issues. 99% of issues are resolved by trying the solutions above.
I completed the online theory & practical course a while ago. Can I have access to the online theory again?

Yes. Practitioners can also review all the Practical Course Dry Needling techniques / course material on the Video Training Site.  Take a trial: $1 for 2 weeks.

Dol I need to complete an Advanced course after completing the 80-hr course.

No. The 80-hr Dry Needling Course includes all the Introductory & Advanced techniques. After successfully completing the 80-hr Dry Needling Course, practitioners are fully qualified to use Dry Needling Therapy in their clinic the next day. They do not need to complete another Advanced course as all the Advanced tachniques are included in the 80-hr course.

How difficult is it to pass practical test? Does everyone normally pass? Is there chance to have re-test?

The informal practical test on Saturday afternoon is all about ensuring practitioners are safe to continue onto the more Advanced techniques on Sunday. On enrolment, we provide a document that gives you a very good idea of the sort of questions you may be asked (Preparing for your Practical course). If you study this then you'll be well prepared for the informal practical test. If a practitioner is unsuccessful in passing the test, they can join a Supplementary course where they re-do the theory & Fri/ Sat practical course again (there's a cost of $350 to join the Supp). We do have the occasional student who does not pass but this is often due to a lack of pre-course preparation (rushing through the theory/ not taking enough time to study all the information provided).

How many practitioners normally attend each practical course?

Every course location allows for different numbers, depending on the size of the practical room. We have several experienced presenters so we base our numbers on student: practitioner ratios.

How often do I need to renew my Dry Needling Training?

Associations recommend practitioners renew their Dry Needling Training every 2 years.

How will I know which/ how many needles I'll need once I'm qualified as a DN Therapist?

All practitioners will receive an Acuneeds discount voucher with details of what / how much to order after course completion. You'll also receive a free needle starter pack which includes; Small pack of needles with cotton buds & disposable glove, kidney dish, small sharps bin.

Is there a practical course test?

The informal practical test on Saturday afternoon is all about ensuring practitioners are safe to continue onto the more Advanced techniques on Sunday. After enrollment we provide a document that gives you a very good idea of the sort of questions you may be asked (Preparing for your Practical course). Occasionally a practitioner does not pass the practical test. This is often due to lack of pre-course preparation (rushing through the theory/ not taking enough time to study all the information provided). We find that practitioners who start their online theory program well before the practical course commencement are well prepared for the informal practical test (we advise to enrol at least 4-6 weeks before practical course commencement). If a practitioner is unsuccessful in passing the test they can join a Supplementary course.
