No Needle Policy
Practical Course Attendance
If you're unable to be needled at the DN Practical Course during the Covid restrictions period (including pregnancy, needle phobia, metal allergy) please Contact Us.
COVID-19 No Needle Policy:
Prior to COVID-19 restrictions, we allowed practitioners who did not wish to be needled for reasons such as immunosuppression, needle phobia, pregnancy, metal allergy and other conditions, to attend the practical course by providing a model to practice upon.
Due to restrictions on the number of people in a given space and the added safety procedures, we may need to limit the number of practitioners attending a practical course who cannot be needled.
In the case where a therapist enrols into a Dry Needling course but later becomes unable to be needled due to recent illness or pregnancy, they can put their enrollment on hold indefinitely, at no extra charge, until restrictions are lifted.
Access to the online theory modules & practical technique videos will be available and extended.
We understand that this may be disappointing, but we have made this decision based on the safety of all course participants.
Reducing the numbers of people at our practical courses will assist in compliance with the recommended safe distancing procedures and the time taken to perform screening health tests.
Thanks for your patience & understanding.

According to hepatitis Australia, persons who perform exposure prone procedures, meaning they could come into contact with sharp instruments or tissues inside a person’s body are required, by law to inform those who are involved in that procedure.
Given that Dry Needling involves the use of an acupuncture needle that is inserted into the body, and possible contact with infected blood, we are unable to accept enrolments from persons who are infected with HBV.

Liability & Responsibility for Online Practical Course - Please read carefully before confirming your attendance at the online practical course.
CPD Health Courses is not responsible for accidents or incidents using information, techniques, theoretical knowledge or advice provided at our training courses, either during practical courses or following your training.
The decision to use Dry Needling by you as the therapist is entirely your own.
We offer education and training that is researched, based on the current understanding of the mechanisms, clinical reasoning processes, safety protocols and evidence in the published literature.
As with all therapeutic interventions, it is the responsibility and obligation of the therapist to decide if Dry Needling is appropriate, within their scope of practice and experience, safe and effective for each unique clinical presentation.
Safe dry needling practise and training is dependent on excellent knowledge of musculoskeletal and visceral anatomy, surface and clinical anatomy and osteology.
The online pre-requisite modules are presented to all students as a refresher rather than an introduction. As a dry needling education provider, we assume that all students have genuinely completed all the online theory content and are well prepared to learn the dry needling skills taught at the online practical course.
We will assume that you have watched the online practical videos immediately prior to the online practical course when you will be asked to demonstrate your prior learning. We strongly suggest that you thoroughly practise the manual therapy techniques before your online practical course session to make the most of the available time.

Recommended Browser:
- You may not be using our recommended browser. Please use Chrome to access & complete your online theory. Here's the CPD HC website URL: http://www.cpdhealthcourses.com/index/
Internet Speed
- Your internet speed is slow. To be able to view all the module slides, listen to the voiceovers & watch the video content you need a moderate to fast internet speed. Your download speed should be at least 3-5 Megabits per second. You can check your internet speed by Here. If your internet speed is less than our recommendation you should try and connect to a faster network eg home/work/friend/library/university/college. Another reason could be that you're connecting to the internet using a wireless connection. A wireless connection is significantly slower than a direct connection using a LAN cable to your modem.
Recommended Devices

However, you should make sure that you exit the program window every time you complete a Module or intend to continue working on another device using the "Exit" button.
Logging Out/In
- In some cases, the information that goes from your computer back to our servers may get interrupted. This might cause the system to crash and require a restart. Logging out, and then back in again of your program may resolve this issue. You may also wish to shut down your computer and restart as well.
Please ensure you've tried all these solutions and feel free to get back to us with any more issues. 99% of issues are resolved by trying the solutions above.

Student (2)
Practitioners Qualifying in DN Therapy
We strongly recommend if a therapist chooses to attend a CPD Health Courses Dry Needling course as a final year student, they should commence Dry Needling practice only once they have successfully completed the Dry Needling training, graduated from their course of study and obtained professional indemnity insurance that covers the practice of Dry Needling Therapy for the profession they anticipate receiving on graduation.
In the case where a final year student holds an existing qualification in another modality (such as Remedial Massage Therapy) and wishes to practice Dry Needling Therapy prior to graduation, they must enrol into a Dry Needling course that meets the practice and insurance requirements for their existing qualifications rather than those which apply to the qualification they anticipate receiving on graduation.
Please choose your Dry Needling course carefully as we cannot refund a course payment if a practitioner enrols in a course that does not enable them to gain PI Insurnace for Dry Needling Therapy or use Dry Needling Therapy after successful completion of the CPD HC DN course.
Refunds
Students and New Grad's automatically receive the student / new grad discount when they choose Student / New Grad on the Profession field of the Enrol page.
If a practitioner forgets to choose Student / New Grad on the Enrol page, the discount can only be refunded if a practitioner contracts us within 7-days of their initial enrolment date.
The refund cannot be made once the total payment has been received by CPD HC.
Students can qualify for the discount if they are a student of the profession they are enrolling under.

Practical course test
Practical Test Requirement
There's a Dry Needling Practical Safety Test on Saturday afternoon to ensure all practitioners have met the required safe standard.
Practitioners who fail to reach a safe standard at the Initial Practical Test, are offered a Supplementary Practical Course Test (SPCT) on the same day.
Students must pass the Initial Practical Test or the SPCT, if required, in order to receive a Certificate of Completion for the DN Introductory course or to continue onto the 80-Hr DN course (Part 2 - Advanced training) on Sunday.
A Certificate of Completion for the DN Introductory / 80-Hr DN course (Part 1- Introductory training) is a pre-requisite for attending the DN Advanced/ 80-Hr DN course (Part 2 - Advanced training), and to practice Dry Needling Therapy after successful course completion.
Initial Practical Test Format
Students are required to demonstrate safe needling practice to the Upper Trapezius plus 1-2 other muscles, chosen from the important Muscle List. One examiner will conduct this test.
If a student fails to achieve the required safety standard during any part of this test, they will be provided with verbal feedback in order to prepare for a Supplementary Practical Course Test (SPCT) which is optional.
If a practitioner elects not to take the SPCT, they will be unable to receive a Certificate of Completion for the DN Introductory course or to continue onto the 80-Hr DN course (Part 2 - Advanced training).
They will be given the option to enrol in a Supplementary DN course at a later date.
Supplementary Practical Course Test Format (SPCT)
The format for the SPCT is similar to the Initial Practical Test but with 1-2 examiners and a model. Students are required to demonstrate safe needling practice to any of the muscles included in the Muscle Safety Grid. The focus of the SPCT consists of surface anatomy, needling direction, caution points and the referral pattern for the relevant muscle.
A video recording of the SPCT will be taken to provide feedback for students, ensure testing consistency and provide evidence in case of disputes.
The knowledge required to pass the Dry Needling Practical Safety Test is included as part of your Online Theory program, including:
- Muscle Safety Grid Matrix
- Sample Grid & required answers
- Sample Questions
- Practical Course Handout
What happens if I don't pass the Supplementary Practical Course Test (SPCT)?
