No Needle Policy
Practical Course Attendance
If you're unable to be needled at the DN Practical Course during the Covid restrictions period (including pregnancy, needle phobia, metal allergy) please Contact Us.
COVID-19 No Needle Policy:
Prior to COVID-19 restrictions, we allowed practitioners who did not wish to be needled for reasons such as immunosuppression, needle phobia, pregnancy, metal allergy and other conditions, to attend the practical course by providing a model to practice upon.
Due to restrictions on the number of people in a given space and the added safety procedures, we may need to limit the number of practitioners attending a practical course who cannot be needled.
In the case where a therapist enrols into a Dry Needling course but later becomes unable to be needled due to recent illness or pregnancy, they can put their enrollment on hold indefinitely, at no extra charge, until restrictions are lifted.
Access to the online theory modules & practical technique videos will be available and extended.
We understand that this may be disappointing, but we have made this decision based on the safety of all course participants.
Reducing the numbers of people at our practical courses will assist in compliance with the recommended safe distancing procedures and the time taken to perform screening health tests.
Thanks for your patience & understanding.

As a therapist, the decision to use Dry Needling is entirely your own. We offer education and training based on current understanding of mechanisms, clinical reasoning processes, safety protocols, and published literature. However, as with all therapeutic interventions, it is your responsibility to decide whether Dry Needling is appropriate, safe, and effective for each unique clinical presentation within your scope of practice and experience.
Safe Dry Needling practice and training depend on excellent knowledge of musculoskeletal and visceral anatomy, surface and clinical anatomy, and osteology.
The online prerequisite modules are presented as a refresher rather than an introduction. As a Dry Needling education provider, we assume that all students have genuinely completed all the online theory content and are well-prepared to learn the Dry Needling skills taught at the online practical course.
We expect that you have watched the online practical videos immediately prior to the online practical course when you will be asked to demonstrate your prior learning. We strongly suggest that you thoroughly practice the manual therapy techniques before your online practical course session to make the most of the available time.

Monitoring the Online Theory:
This is to clarify the reasons for our close monitoring of the online theory component.
Dry Needling is a procedure that involves invasive techniques, and at CPD HC, our foremost priority is to offer a course that upholds the highest safety standards, both in the online theory and practical course.
This commitment is driven by our dedication to ensuring the safety of every practitioner, including yourself.
Our system is designed to automatically flag any online theory activity that appears to be progressing at a rate significantly faster than the average completion time, which is a vital part of our quality assurance.
As per the requirements of Professional Associations and Professional Indemnity Insurance, in order to become a qualified Dry Needling Therapist, all practitioners are obliged to successfully complete the online theory program in good faith.
For the accreditation of our courses by Professional Associations, CPD HC must ensure that each practitioner who undertakes the online theory program does so in good faith.
This is necessary to receive a Certificate of Completion, which specifies the number of training hours completed successfully.
This meticulous oversight ensures the integrity of our training and accreditation processes.

Recommended Browser:
- You may not be using our recommended browser. Please use Chrome to access & complete your online theory. Here's the CPD HC website URL: http://www.cpdhealthcourses.com/index/
Internet Speed
- Your internet speed is slow. To be able to view all the module slides, listen to the voiceovers & watch the video content you need a moderate to fast internet speed. Your download speed should be at least 3-5 Megabits per second. You can check your internet speed by Here. If your internet speed is less than our recommendation you should try and connect to a faster network eg home/work/friend/library/university/college. Another reason could be that you're connecting to the internet using a wireless connection. A wireless connection is significantly slower than a direct connection using a LAN cable to your modem.
Recommended Devices
- The online theory program is compatible to use with an iPad, a Windows tablet, laptop or desktop computer.

CPD HC reserves the right to require the practitioner to start and complete the updated theory program before joining the practical course.
Please note that any progress made on the previous version of the theory program will not be credited, and the practitioner must complete the most recent version to be eligible to attend a practical course.

Maintaining Safety Standards
To maintain these standards, we reserve the right to assess you if you fall below the required safety standard at the practical course.

If you do not pass the safety test, you will be given the opportunity to enrol in a supplementary course at a later date, when you feel confident that you can meet the safety standard.
This policy ensures that only those who have demonstrated safe practice, can continue with the practical course, maintaining a secure environment for everyone involved.
The cost of this Supplementary course is $350.00 (Terms & Conditions).

Before attending the practical course, the model (whether a friend or close relative) will need to complete a health questionnaire and consent form. Please contact CPD HC prior to enrollment if you require an additional table, as this may be necessary if the course is fully booked.
In the event that you are unable to provide a model, please contact us. It may be necessary for you to transfer to a practical course at a later date, and transfer fees may apply. For further information, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.

Student (3)
Degree & Masters Degree Undergraduates
We strongly advise Physiotherapy, Osteopathy, Chiropractic, Excercise Physiology and Myotherapy (Degree) students, who are in their final year of study to only use Dry Needling Therapy after they have graduated from their current course of study, and obtained professional indemnity insurance that specifically covers Dry Needling Therapy for their anticipated profession upon graduation.
In situations where a final-year student already holds qualifications in another modality, such as Remedial Massage Therapy, and wishes to incorporate Dry Needling Therapy into their practice before graduation, it is essential for them to enrol in a Dry Needling course that aligns with the practice and insurance requirements of their existing qualifications, rather than the requirements of the qualification they expect to receive upon graduation.
We urge practitioners to carefully select the appropriate Dry Needling course that enables them to obtain professional indemnity insurance for Dry Needling Therapy and allows them to legally practice Dry Needling Therapy following the successful completion of the CPD HC Dry Needling course.
Please note that course payments cannot be refunded if a practitioner enrols in a course that does not fulfil these requirements.
Diploma Undergraduates
We strongly advise Remedial Massage Therapy & Myotherapy (Advanced Diploma) students, who are in their final 3 months of study and have successfully completed a Dry Needling Course with CPD HC, to only use Dry Needling Therapy after they have graduated from their current undergraduate course of study, and obtained professional indemnity insurance that specifically covers Dry Needling Therapy for their anticipated profession upon graduation.
Refunds
Students and new graduates are eligible to receive a discount when they select the "Student" option in the Profession field on the Enrol page.
It is important for practitioners to remember to choose the "Student" option during the enrolment process to receive the discount. Practical course test
Practical Test Requirement
To ensure that all practitioners meet the required safety standards, there is a Dry Needling Practical Safety Test held on Saturday afternoon.
During the Practical Test, practitioners are evaluated on their ability to perform safe needling practices on the Upper Trapezius and Infraspinatus muscle and 1-2 other muscles chosen from the important Muscle List.
If a practitioner fails to meet the required safety standard during any part of the Initial Practical Test, they will receive verbal feedback.
Passing either the Practical Test is necessary to receive a Certificate of Completion for the DN Introductory course.
A Certificate of Completion for the DN Introductory / 80-Hr DN course is a prerequisite for attending the DN Advanced / 80-Hr DN course and for practising Dry Needling Therapy after successful course completion.
Students must demonstrate safe needling practice of 3 muscles listed in the Muscle Safety Grid. The focus is on surface anatomy, needling direction, caution points, and the referral pattern for the relevant muscle.
The knowledge required to pass the Dry Needling Practical Safety Test is covered in the Online Theory program, which includes the Muscle Safety Grid Matrix, sample grid and answers, sample questions, and the Practical Course Handout.
If a practitioner does not pass the practical test, they have the option to enrol in a Supplementary DN course at a later date. This involves completing the Dry Needling online practical course video section again (not the online theory modules) at a reduced price of $350.

Why do we charge transfer fees?
Why do we charge transfer fees?
This is an explanation of why transfer fees are incurred by any person who is unable to attend a scheduled practical course.
This response is general in nature and is not meant to address the specific concerns of any therapist/s.
CPD HC has been in business for the past ten years.
We present courses almost every weekend in Australia & the UK.
Every week, we receive emails from therapists who have booked their practical course dates but cannot attend for many reasons, including medical emergencies, family emergencies and a death in the family.
We believe every single person's reason for not being able to participate in the course without questioning their case's veracity.
Last-minute cancellations place our business in a challenging position, not just morally but financially.
If we are to continue to run a business, we need to remain economically viable.
Here's a typical example:
We have twenty-four students booked into a practical course at the start of a given month.
Knowing this information, we plan to have enough presenters, flights for those presenters, catering, courier enough treatment tables and supplies, and hire of a suitable room size.
Indirect costs include our presenters' fees in cancelling their patient lists on Friday afternoon and Saturday to teach at the course.
If six of the original twenty-four therapists tell us they cannot attend, giving us seven days' notice or less, we have a financial hole in the budget for that course.
We are also unable to fill places if a practitioner cannot attend at short notice, due to pre-requisite study that has to be completed before attending a practical course.
Regardless of why a therapist cannot participate, we have committed to paying for costs that are no longer required.
All of these extras amount to several thousand dollars.
The transfer fees we request from therapists who cannot attend for any reason are a fraction of the actual cost to our business.
The transfer fees are not penalties but are a small contribution to the debt we incur every time a therapist is unable to attend.
This debt does not respect the reason or morality of the circumstances.
Like many businesses in Australia and worldwide, we face rising costs and inflation.
At this time, we cannot see a fairer or more practical solution to this challenge other than asking therapists who are unable to attend, regardless of their reasons, to pay a transfer fee to partly compensate us for the costs that we have incurred and cannot get refunded for, regardless of our reasons.
We have a tiered transfer fee policy linked to the notice given by the therapist; the more notice we receive, the lower the transfer fee.
We believe that this is a reasonable compromise addressing this ubiquitous business challenge.
Thank you.
Transfer fees:
- $125 for transfers made 21 days or more prior to practical course commencement
- $350 for transfers made 20 days or less prior to practical course commencement
- If the transfer occurs after the practical course commencement date & time, the full course fee will be charged.
