Covid 19 - No Needle Policy

Practical Course Attendance

Unfortunately, if you're unable to be needled at the DN Practical Course during the Covid restrictions period (including pregnancy, needle phobia, metal allergy) we are unable to accept a practitioners enrolment due to our Covid-19 No Needle Policy.

If you're already enrolled on a Practical Course, you're welcome to transfer to a practical course at a later date (2021).

Please Contact Us.

This is an evolving situation where things can change at short notice.

We sincerly apologise for any inconvenience caused.

COVID-19 No Needle Policy:

Prior to COVID-19 restrictions, we allowed practitioners who did not wish to be needled for reasons such as immunosuppression, needle phobia, pregnancy, metal allergy and other conditions, to attend the practical course by providing a model to practice upon.

Due to restrictions on the number of people in a given space and the added safety procedures that we have implemented at our practical courses, this offer is no longer tenable until restrictions have been lifted.

In the case where a therapist enrols into a Dry Needling course but later becomes unable to be needled due to recent illness or pregnancy, they can put their enrollment on hold indefinitely, at no extra charge, until restrictions are lifted.

Access to the online theory modules & practical technique videos will be available and extended.

We understand that this may be disappointing, but we have made this decision based on the safety of all course participants.

Reducing the numbers of people at our practical courses will assist in compliance with the recommended safe distancing procedures and the time taken to perform screening health tests.

Thanks for your patience & understanding.

Online Theory - Completing Program

Completing Online Theory Program

It is a mandatory requirement that all practitioners enrolled in a CPD HC Dry Needling Course successfully complete the online theory program before attending the practical course.

Attendance at the practical course may be refused if a practitioner has not completed the modules.

Practitioners can transfer their emnrollment to a practical course at a later date or put their enrollment On Hold (indefinately) in order to complete the theory modules (Transfer Fee's may apply).

CPD HC takes no responsibilty with regards to a practitioner being unable to log in to their online theory program.

It is the responsibilty of the practitioner to contact CPD HC before the practical course commencement date, if they're unable to log in to start their theory program.

Practitioners need to be aware that it is a mandatory requirement to successfully complete all the online theory modules before attending the practical course. They need to leave enough time to complete the program before attending the practical course.

Online Theory - Troubleshooting

Here are the most likely causes of Online Theory issues:

Recommended Browser:

Internet Speed

  • Your internet speed is slow. To be able to view all the module slides, listen to the voiceovers & watch the video content you need a moderate to fast internet speed. Your download speed should be at least 3-5 Megabits per second. You can check your internet speed by Here. If your internet speed is less than our recommendation you should try and connect to a faster network eg home/work/friend/library/university/college. Another reason could be that you're connecting to the internet using a wireless connection. A wireless connection is significantly slower than a direct connection using a LAN cable to your modem.

Recommended Devices

  • Our Online theory program is NOT compatible with iPad or Windows Tablets. Please ensure that you use a laptop or desktop computer and that you have performed a software update.

Clearing Your Cache

  • Your browser may still use old files which can cause display or access problems. Clearing your browser cache may help our applications run better on your computer. To clear your cache please follow these instructions: Refresh your cache on a Windows Device or Mac.

Multiple Devices

  • You can use more than one device to complete your online theory eg. Start on your desktop while at work then continue to work on the theory modules using your laptop at home. However, you should make sure that you exit the program window every time you complete a Module or intend to continue working on another device using the "Exit" button.

Logging Out/In

  • In some cases, the information that goes from your computer back to our servers may get interrupted. This might cause the system to crash and require a restart. Logging out, then back in again of your program may resolve this issue. You may also wish to shut down your computer and restart as well.

Please ensure you've tried all these solutions and feel free to get back to us with any more issues. 99% of issues are resolved by trying the solutions above.

Payments

Payment Plan

Defer balance until 2 weeks before course means: after paying an intial amount to enrol in the course, the final course payment will be automatically debited 2 weeks before the practical course commencement date, from the credit card account entered when paying the intial amount.

If a practitioner wants to change the account details from which the final payment will be automatically debited, they can do so by logging in and clicking 'My Saved Credit Card' under 'My Account'.

If a practitioner requests a refund, the refund will be made into the account used to make the initial course payment.

The CPD HC 80-hr Dry Needling course meets the standard required for professional indemnity insurance with regards to Dry Needling Therapy (including AON / Arthur J Gallagher/ Insurance House).

Practical course - Deferring your practical course

80-hr Dry Needling Course: 20-hr Practical Training:

Due to CPD Health Courses course requirements, the 20-hr practical training (of the 80-hr DN course) must be completed over one single practical course: Friday evening, Saturday & Sunday of the SAME weekend.

If a practitioner is sick and unable to attend the Sunday training, after successfully completing the Introductory Practical Test, they must produce a Medical Dr’s Certificate in order to defer their Advanced course enrolment to the next Advanced practical course.

Once the Medical Certificate has been received we will transfer your Advanced practical training enrollment without charge.

If a practitioner is unable to attend the Sunday practical training for any other reason, after successfully completing the Introductory Practical Test, they can defer their practical course enrolment to another date. The fee for deferment / transfer is $350.00

Any practitioner who defers from the DN Advanced practical training for any reason, after successfully completing the Introductory training on Friday & Saturday will be required to attend the Friday & Saturday training and complete a re-test on Saturday afternoon before joining the practical on Sunday.

This is to ensure all practitioners have maintained the same level of safety necessary to attend the Advanced course training on Sunday.

Please note: practitioners who defer the Sunday practical training will not be able to practice Dry Needling Therapy until they have successfully completed all requirements for this 80-hr Dry Needling Course.

If a practitioner starts the practical training but is unable to complete the Introductory practical training and/ or the Practical Test due to illness or illness of a family member, they will need to defer the practical training and transfer to the next available practical course (Friday / Saturday & Sunday).

They must produce a Medical Dr’s Certificate for themselves or the family member. No transfer fee will be charged.

They will need to complete the 20-hr practical training over one single night & weekend: Friday evening, Saturday & Sunday of the SAME weekend.

20-hr DN Introductory Enrolment (Physio/ Chiro/ Osteo/ GP/ Myo/ EP)

If a practitioner starts the practical training but is unable to complete the Introductory practical training and/ or the Practical Test due to any other reason than illness, they will need to defer the practical training and transfer to the next available practical course.

They will need to complete the 12-hr practical training over Friday night & Saturday of the same weekend (Introductory course enrollment).

The fee for transferring in this circumstance (with no medical certificate) is $350.00

Please note: If you join a practical course that's more than 12 months after completing your online theory program, you will need to start the Online Theory program from the beginning again.

Student - Practitioners Qualifying in DN Therapy

We strongly recommend if a therapist chooses to attend a CPD Health Courses Dry Needling course as a final year student, they should commence Dry Needling practice only once they have successfully completed the Dry Needling training, graduated from their course of study and obtained professional indemnity insurance that covers the practice of Dry Needling Therapy for the profession they anticipate receiving on graduation.

In the case where a final year student holds an existing qualification in another modality (such as Remedial Massage Therapy) and wishes to practice Dry Needling Therapy prior to graduation, they must enrol into a Dry Needling course that meets the practice and insurance requirements for their existing qualifications rather than those which apply to the qualification they anticipate receiving on graduation.

Please choose your Dry Needling course carefully as we cannot refund a course payment if a practitioner enrols in a course that does not enable them to gain PI Insurnace for Dry Needling Therapy or use Dry Needling Therapy after successful completion of the CPD HC DN course.

Practitioners who fail to reach a safe standard at the Initial Practical Test, are offered a Supplementary Practical Course Test (SPCT) on the same day.

Students must pass the Initial Practical Test or the SPCT, if required, in order to receive a Certificate of Completion for the DN Introductory course or to continue onto the 80-Hr DN course (Part 2 - Advanced training) on Sunday.

Initial Practical Test Format

Students are required to demonstrate safe needling practice to the Upper Trapezius plus 1-2 other muscles, chosen from the important Muscle List. One examiner will conduct this test.

If a student fails to achieve the required safety standard during any part of this test, they will be provided with verbal feedback in order to prepare for a Supplementary Practical Course Test (SPCT) which is optional.

If a practitioner elects not to take the SPCT, they will be unable to receive a Certificate of Completion for the DN Introductory course or to continue onto the 80-Hr DN course (Part 2 - Advanced training).

They will be given the option to enrol in a Supplementary DN course at a later date.

Supplementary Practical Course Test Format (SPCT)

The format for the SPCT is similar to the Initial Practical Test but with 1-2 examiners and a model. Students are required to demonstrate safe needling practice to any of the muscles included in the Muscle Safety Grid. The focus of the SPCT consists of surface anatomy, needling direction, caution points and the referral pattern for the relevant muscle.

A video recording of the SPCT will be taken to provide feedback for students, ensure testing consistency and provide evidence in case of disputes.

The knowledge required to pass the Dry Needling Practical Safety Test is included as part of your Online Theory program, including:

  • Muscle Safety Grid Matrix
  • Sample Grid & required answers
  • Sample Questions
  • Practical Course Handout

What happens if I don't pass the Supplementary Practical Course Test (SPCT)?

If a practitioner does not pass the Supplementary Practical Course Test (SPCT) they will have the choice to complete a Supplementary Dry Needling Course at a later date.

This means enrolling & completing the Dry Needling online theory & practical course again at a reduced price of $350.
